Museum Associate Job Summary

Museum Associate team members are the face of the Villa Zorayda Museum.  Their primary job function is to greet and interact with museum guests, sell admission tickets and merchandise, answer questions about the Museum and Collection, local history and nearby community services, and work museum special events on occasion. The successful candidate will ensure that each guest receives outstanding service by providing a welcoming environment from knowledgeable staff that promotes admission and product sales, accurate museum and collection information, and genuine hospitality. They will have the opportunity to learn in depth history of the Villa Zorayda and the Museum’s collection to help answer guests’ questions. Museum Associates assist with the daily operations of the museum, including opening and closing, guest relations and problem resolution, sales, customer service, and special events. Museum Associates work to create an exemplary experience while promoting the Museum’s mission.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet and interact with museum visitors
  • Promote current admission offerings to prospective visitors
  • Review admission pricing information with visitors
  • Utilize a point-or-sale register which includes cash, credit card, and mobile payment options
  • Explain the use of our self-guided audio device that takes visitors on a tour of the museum

Requirements, Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience in the customer service industry, preferably at museums or other cultural institutions
  • Excellent writing, speaking, organizational, interpersonal and cultural literacy skills.
  • Ability to be a self-stater, work independently, solve problems, and work under a flexible work environment
  • Ability to stand to greet guests (accommodations can be made)
  • Ability to work nights and weekends
  • Ability to speak English fluently (Spanish and French desired)
  • Basic computer and technology skills
  • A high school diploma or GED certificate
